Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said the system outage started around 1: 30 pm and lasted until about 6: 30 pm Thursday.
Temporary Outage crippled Virginia criminal information network, which police warning if a person wanted by the police or to beached in a stolen vehicle. It is also used to complete the background checks required for the purchase of firearms, so the purchase of weapons while colored as well. The network averages more than 1 million transactions per day.
It was the latest in a rash of sporadic outages to hit the State’s computer system.
